KENYONB is back on Digital Gravel

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

KENYONB is back on DigitalGravel.com with some UNlimited edition prints. In the same vein as ArtsProjekt, DG has teamed up with ArtDig to do some on-demand poster printing. Here is my first line-up, you may recognize a few…

Dark Side
Star Wars and Full Metal Jacket is like chocolate and peanut butter… Darth Vader and Private Joker’s helmet epitomize the duality of man, or “the Jungian thing, Sir.”
PS- all you who bought the original limited edition print, don’t worry, your print is way cooler and just as special as it ever was.

Black To The Future
Doc Brown and Jay get down on this one…
“One point twenty one Gigawatts!”
“Jigga what?!”

Droid Buttseks
C-3PO cheating on Artoo? Oh my!

Trees
I got the tree on my mirror so my car won’t smell…
Permanently ingrained  in my brain Beastie Boys lyrics that I cannot help but repeat in my head every-single-time I see one of those little trees hanging from someone’s car mirror, or in stores, or anywhere for that matter… OCD, yeah you know me.

Expect more to follow…

KENYONB is on Artsprojekt.com

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

It took me a while to embrace the print on-demand products of Artsprojekt.com… but I can dig it now.

I like all the stuff that makes limited edition prints and tees extra unique and special in that “I have this and it sold out and you can never have one” kind of way… But given the fact that most of my work only appeals to only a select few, Artsprojekt makes sense for a lot of my work that I want to make available for reproduction.

This does not mean I am giving up on limited edition prints. This just means that I now have a new affordable medium to get my work into the few hands that appreciate it, quicker and easier than before.

This also allows me to release old designs on new products. So for all of you who asked for Wormhole Research on a tee, or VOMIT on a skateboard, etc… this is for you… all 3 or 4 of you. Therefore, I have decided to make some previously released designs available on new products.

And for the flippers and collectors that bought my prints, not to worry, your original limited edition prints are still just as original, and just as unique. I will not be re-releasing limited edition screen print designs as unlimited print runs.

So, without further ado, I present to you KENYONB on Artsprojekt.com

Sounds like a good Shel Silverstein poem, but it’s a group show put on by Mather:Kunst (Andenken Gallery affiliation) at Streetlab in Amsterdam.

This Group Exhibition features work from 6 contemporary American artists:  Evan Hecox, Rich Jacobs, Kenyon Bajus,
Buff Monster, Amanda Marie and Exploding Dog.  Artwork from the exhibit will be available for purchase.

The aim is to show how vastly different the perspective of each artist is, whilst visually marking a strange thread that
binds them all in the important web of contemporary culture.

In a nut shell, each of these artist’s personal story is a stone in a wide stream of amazing progressive visual art.

After you’re done buying up all my original pieces and prints at the show, stop by Wolf & Pack and buy all my tees and prints there… BEEEYAAAATCH!!!

WHY: Proceeds from “The Big Payback” auction will support the goal of purchasing five homes and employing local Detroit contractors, electricians, plumbers, and carpenters to perform the renovations. Selected artists will also be invited to participate in the remodeling. The event aims to raise the consciousness of both the problems of people disenfranchised by the nation’s economic crisis, as well as encourage a sense of community in the art world and inspire people to effect positive social change in their own communities.

All proceeds from the auction to be donated to the Power House Project to help purchase and renovate foreclosed and abandoned homes in the Detroit area.

In celebration of the auction and Juxtapoz’s 15th anniversary, Upper Playground will host an exclusive event in Los Angeles on November 14, 2009 to view the featured artwork on display and meet with the contributing artists.

WHEN: Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 7-11 pm

A night in San Fran… a long, long time ago

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

I had these photos on the site a while ago, then took them down when doing some maintenance, redesign, time wasting organization = procrastination… anyway, my friend Frank took these shots. The paste is a bit bigger than it looks, approx 6 feet tall, maybe bigger, don’t remember. But should have made it bigger. Anyway, people were digging this paste and location so I thought I would share again. Now enjoy this seizure inducing animated GIF.

Where On Earth Have You Been?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Anyone going to be at the Bright Tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany? (Jan 24-25, 2009) There will be the first installment of the group show Where On Earth Have You Been? In Hyland Mather’s own words (owner/founder of Andenken Gallery in Denver and Mather:Kunst in the Netherlands)

Basically, the show combines work from the personal collection of Malia and I, Artwork on loan from the Andenken Stacks, and lots of work that artists have sent to us over the last several months. There are a lot of personal pieces in this show for me. A piece Evan Hecox made for my birthday. A ’spin the bottle’ photograph Vin Comparetto made. A piece Faile sent at Christmas a few years ago. A long list of memories for the Mather’s. I can’t wait to see it all in one place.

This is the first installation of what we hope to make a growing traveling collection. A Dutch organization called, The Urban Arts Foundation is working with Mather:Kunst now to help make this a reality in Holland.  www.urbanartsfoundation.nl

Already, there are 200 ish pieces from about 85 artists. The roster and a program fact sheet are available on the project site: www.whereonearthproject.com

Imagine that?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Did you guess the reference? Didn’t think so. Nobody else who has seen these pieces has. Let me help you out:

All I think about is kees and gees, imagine that, me working at Mickey Deez…

Classic Ice-T lyrics from the song that was used on the soundtrack to the classic flick New Jack City. Classic. Anyway, times are tough, and I truly hope Ice invested his cash wisely, because I can’t imagine him working at Mickey Deez.

Like ‘em? They’re available.
